At a 1980’s car boot sale a ring with a white stone was bought for £10 (AUD$17) assumed to be costume jewellery. Earlier this year, the owner asked Sotheby’s to value the piece.
This ring, now known as the “Tenner” Diamond, was graded as a 26.29ct cushion cut diamond of I colour and VVS2 clarity and valued at £250,000 – £350,000 (AUD$423,197 – $592,476)
On 7th June at the London Sotheby’s Fine Jewels Auction the “Tenner” Diamond was sold for £656,750 (AUD$1,111,739)
