Diamond Grading is the analysis of the internal and external features/characteristics of a diamond, incorporating the 4 C’s and providing a report with these findings without including a value. Although Diamond Grading is subjective, there are internationally recognised procedures in place which must be followed.

The Grading is only done on loose diamonds. If a diamond is set in a piece of jewellery, that diamond must be taken out. These loose diamonds are placed on various machines which help in the accurate identification and authenticity of that stone. The metal in which the diamond is set can interfere with the actual colour of the diamond and can also hide inclusions whether internal or external.

Diamond Grading is the main tool used to determine the value of a diamond in the marketplace.
